Bagram’s mountains and razor wire

When we got off the plane, we were greeted by majestic views of the snowcapped mountains that ring the base. Squinting into the distance, it felt vaguely like Big Bend or New Mexico. But this is a military base (and an ex-Soviet one at that) and the charm ends with the mountains.
